My favourite Hakka Lei Cha
Chineeq tagged me on 'Food Around The World". She wants to know as Malaccans, do we share the same favorite food.
Well, I am a boring person when it comes to food, I can eat the same food over and over for weeks, until I get tired of it.:-)
My never get tired, favorite food is the Hakka Lei Cha (literally mean Hakka grounded tea)

There are many versions of Lei Cha, picture on the left is what we usually have in my family, we either have with steamed rice or crisp pop rice (like pop corn), picture on the right is the version that the shop behind the preschool sells.
When my grandmother was around, she always cooked this dish with her best Tea Collection. We had this 7 days a week for breakfast and/or afternoon tea break. Now, my mother makes this probably 3-4 times in a week, I usually have this for breakfast during the weekends when I am at my parent's place. When my mother didn't know what to cook, she and my dad sometime have this for lunch or dinner. Whenever I wanted something light and healthy, I took this for lunch at the coffee shop behind the preschool. Hubby likes this Hakka Lei Cha very much too, he finished one whole pot of tea meant for 7-8 people when he was here the first time. :-)

Can. I only know the version we make in my family, which's water down, simplified less 'ma fan"(troublesome) way.:-)
I have completed the tag. *salutes*
Feel really hungry now.
hi! this is exactly how my family prepares our Lei Cha too!! :)
Yummy! I miss this. Used to make this 2-3 times a week when I was staying back at home. Don't have the proper equipment here to make it. Well, I guest I can use a blender, but it's just doesn't taste as good as using the special pottery pot.
